Your 3-day journey to Marrakech begins at 9:00 AM with a pick-up from your accommodation in Errachidia. Traveling south, your first stop offers panoramic views over the stunning Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s largest and most scenic palm oases. Continue towards the Sahara via Aoufous and Erfoud, a town renowned for its fossils; you’ll have the option to visit a local fossil craft workshop. Afterwards, proceed to the edge of the captivating Erg Chebbi dunes, also known as the Merzouga dunes.
Settle in briefly before embarking on an unforgettable camel trek (approx. 1-1.5 hours) into the heart of the dunes. Witness a spectacular desert sunset, try sandboarding if you wish, and capture incredible photos. Your camel ride then continues to your desert camp. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with traditional mint tea, followed by a delicious dinner. Enjoy Berber drumming music around a campfire beneath a vast, starry sky before retiring for the night in your desert tent.
Rise early to experience the magic of a Saharan sunrise over the dunes near your camp. After these memorable moments, enjoy breakfast and the opportunity to shower at the camp. You will then return by camel or 4WD vehicle to the rendezvous point to meet your driver. Your desert tour continues towards the Dades Valley. You’ll visit the traditional market (souk) in Rissani if it coincides with a market day (Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Sundays).
Travel through small Berber villages like Touroug and Tinjdad to reach Tinghir, where you’ll stop to admire the beautiful Todra Valley with its extensive palm groves. Proceed to the impressive Todra Gorge, characterized by its towering canyon walls, a popular spot for rock climbers. Enjoy free time to walk through the gorge before breaking for lunch (at your own expense). In the afternoon, journey via Boumalne Dades to reach the scenic Dades Valley. Check into your hotel/riad for dinner and an overnight stay.
On the final day of your tour, depart the Dades Valley towards Marrakech. Your route takes you through Kalaat M’gouna, the heart of Morocco’s Rose Valley (famous for its May Rose Festival), and the Skoura palm grove along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” In Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” you will visit the historic Taourirt Kasbah, with an optional stop at the Atlas Film Studios. Continue to the magnificent Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986.
Explore this iconic fortified village, famous as a filming location for movies and series like Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. After time for exploration and lunch (at your own expense), begin the dramatic ascent into the High Atlas Mountains. Cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass, Morocco’s highest road pass at 2260m (7415 ft), offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and Berber villages. Descend from the mountains, arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening. You will be transferred to your hotel or riad, concluding your 3-day adventure from Errachidia.
