Travel through remote Berber villages, observing traditional life amidst stunning scenery. This tour delivers a unique blend of culture, adventure, and unforgettable desert experiences.
Your 4-day Moroccan discovery begins in Casablanca. Visit the exterior of the Royal Palace and explore the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece and one of the world’s largest mosques. Depart for Rabat, the capital city, where you’ll see the historic Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the charming Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the ocean.
Continue your journey inland, stopping at the impressive ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the nearby holy town of Moulay Idriss I. Make a brief stop in the Imperial City of Meknes to admire the grand Bab Mansour gate before arriving in Fes for your overnight stay at a hotel/riad.
Begin the day with an exploration of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual heart. Delve into the vibrant Fes el-Bali (the ancient medina), visit the Nejjarine Fountain, view the exterior of the historic Al Karaouine Mosque & University, and gain insights into traditional crafts. Afterwards, journey south towards the Sahara, travelling through the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Stop near Azrou in the cedar forests to observe the native Barbary macaques. Continue via Midelt (optional stop for lunch) and enjoy the scenic drive through the Ziz Valley, known for its vast palm groves. Upon reaching Merzouga, meet your camels for a memorable trek into the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes. Witness a spectacular desert sunset, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner at your desert camp, listen to Berber music around the campfire, and spend an unforgettable night under the stars.
Wake early to experience the breathtaking beauty of a Sahara sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast and a chance to shower back near the dune line (either at the camp or a nearby auberge), depart towards the Dades Valley. Travel via Erfoud (known for fossils) and Tinjdad to reach Tineghir.
Here, venture into the dramatic Todra Gorges, taking time to walk between the towering canyon walls. After lunch (at your own expense) near the gorge, continue your journey to the scenic Dades Valley, famed for its unique rock formations like the “Monkey Fingers” and impressive kasbahs nestled in the landscape. Check into your accommodation in the Dades area for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, travel along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” through the Dades Valley, passing Kalaat M’gouna (the Rose Valley) and the Skoura Palm Grove towards Ouarzazate. Make a key stop to visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a magnificent 18th-century fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site, famous as a backdrop for many films and series.
Following your exploration and time for lunch (at your own expense), begin the spectacular drive across the High Atlas Mountains. Ascend the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m / 7,415ft), pausing for photos of the stunning panoramic views. Descend from the mountains, arriving in the vibrant city of Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where your memorable 4-day Moroccan adventure concludes with drop-off at your accommodation.
